I consider myself to be an opportunistic photographer in that I generally just head out with my camera with no specific goals in mind except to photograph whatever takes my fancy.
However a few weeks ago I took part in an organised photo walk with a goal.
The photo walk preceded one of our Southland Photographic Society‘s Thursday evening meetings – and the goal that had been set was to take a wander around the nearby streets and come up with a series of photographs that were full of grunge, were dark and gritty, and downright dirty.
As we started the photo walk it was still quite bright, but the evening started to darken up a little as the sun sank really low, and by the time we had all finished it was dark.
It was fun and the brief of grunge, gritty, dirty certainly made me look for things around me that I might not have seen before.
Unfortunately I missed the slideshow of images from the grunge photo walk that was shown to a subsequent meeting – but here are some of the images I put forward for consideration.
